How we work
All work is carried out under a strategic plan agreed with the client and in compliance with the procedures and laws in force in Angola.
Project discipline applied to consulting.
An accounting or consulting engagement rarely fails for lack of technical knowledge. It fails through poorly defined scope, irregular communication and deadlines managed by sight. That is why we structured our delivery around international project management good practice: clear process groups, explicit management areas and a formal close-out that leaves knowledge inside the client's organisation.
Initiation
Diagnostic of the accounting, tax and organisational position. Scope definition and engagement charter.
Planning
Strategic plan agreed with the client: deliverables, calendar, assigned team and acceptance criteria.
Execution
Delivery of the work under defined procedures, instructions and templates, on site and remotely.
Monitoring
Control of filing deadlines, financial indicators and periodic reporting to client management.
Closing
Report and accounts, archived tax file, lessons learned and knowledge transfer.
Management areas in every engagement
We do not manage only the technical work. Every engagement has ten dimensions under active management — and attention to all of them is what separates a predictable service from an improvised one.
Governance and reporting
Client management needs to know, at any moment, the state of its obligations. We structure communication so that answer is always available.
Single point of contact
An engagement lead designated by MZD, with an identified back-up, ensures continuity and one line of contact.
Monthly reporting
Trial balance, financial report and filing compliance status delivered to management on fixed dates.
Progress meeting
Periodic review of indicators, live tax risks and pending decisions.
Risk register
Tax, labour and treasury risks identified, classified and tracked through to mitigation.
Service levels
Operational commitments we assume under a retainer contract. Specific deadlines are set in each proposal, based on document volume and the company's tax treatment.
- Document collection and classification on a closed monthly cycle
- Trial balance and financial reporting delivered by an agreed date each month
- Filing obligations submitted within the AGT's legal deadline, without exception
- Response to queries within business days defined in the proposal
- Presence at client premises on a daily or weekly basis, as contracted
- In-person support in any AGT inspection
Quality and compliance
Second-pair review
All technical work is reviewed by a second professional before submission or delivery to the client.
Standardised documentation
Instructions, templates and internal procedures ensure the service does not depend on any single individual.
Continuous technical updating
Ongoing monitoring of Angolan tax and labour legislative change and its immediate application.
Confidentiality and information security
Client financial information is treated as client property. We assume a duty of professional secrecy over all documentation we access, restrict internal access to what is strictly necessary to deliver the engagement, and return or destroy documentation as agreed at close-out. Employee personal data processed under human resources services is used solely for the contracted purposes.
Reference legal framework
Our work rests on Angolan law. These are the references that structure delivery:
SNCRF
Accounting Standardisation and Financial Reporting System — chart of accounts and measurement and reporting criteria.
VAT Code
Assessment, deduction and periodic filing of Value Added Tax.
IRT Code
Employment Income Tax — withholding, brackets and remittance.
Industrial Tax Code
Determination of taxable income, payments on account and annual assessment.
General Labour Law
Contracts, termination, severance and employer obligations.
Social Security
Registration, contributions and submission of slips on the institution's portal.
The tax year, under control
The Angolan filing calendar does not forgive delays. We manage the dates for you, with internal alerts raised ahead of every obligation.
VAT assessment and filing, IRT withholding, Social Security contributions and trial balance issuance.
Quarterly trial balances, review of current accounts and reconciliations, indicator reporting to management.
Year-end closing, financial statements, Tax File, Industrial Tax return and report and accounts.
